ConnectMap

After a few months spent toiling in the Hacks/Hackers laboratory, we’re back and happy to announce the details for Connect events in San Francisco, London, and NYC.

Hold the date

The San Francisco event will take place on the weekend of January 22 at the startup co-working space Runway, followed by events in London on the weekend of February 5 at Rainmaking Loft, and New York City on the weekend of February 26 at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.

**In partnership with the Google News Lab, **Connect enables local Hacks/Hackers groups to tailor events to support innovation within their communities. This includes partnering with leading early-stage investors, digital agencies and academic programs, including Seedcamp (London), Grand Central Tech (NYC), Medill University’s Media Innovation and Entrepreneurship program (San Francisco), Alley Interactive (San Francisco, NYC), Tow-Knight Center for Entrepreneurial Journalism at CUNY (NYC) and NYC Media Lab (NYC).

Connect, which launched its first event in Berlin in June, is an ambitious series that aims for every event to be designed and built by and for the community in which it runs.

Connect Berlin video recap:

By collaborating with organizers and members from the extensive Hacks/Hackers group network, Connect benefits from a wealth of local experience ensuring events are highly-tailored and targeted to the local media landscape, and aspire to deliver practical skills for those interested in building and developing news-related technology or content businesses.

Hacks/Hackers is also working with groups to expand the program to new locations with planning underway for events in Austin, Barcelona, Brussels, Miami, and Paris. If you’re interested in hosting a Connect event in your city, or getting involved in an event near you, please get in touch.
