Dream jobs for #newsnerds
Greetings, hacks and hackers! We have a trifecta of dream jobs for news nerds this week: you could write stories for NiemanLab, help the John S. Knight Fellowship program engage its audience, or even have a title like Future of Journalism Director at the Knight Foundation.
The upcoming month provides a small break in conference season, but then we're right back into it with six - yes, six - Hacks/Hackers-related events in September. Not least among them, the famous HHBA Media Party!
The week ahead:
- Boston is hosting lightning talks
- IRE is holding its regular open lab
- Johannesburg is inviting members to JAMLAB
- Kuala Lumpur is telling stories with maps
Worth a read:
- DocumentCloud, a Knight News Challenge grant winner, is setting forth as an independent nonprofit and will ask heavy users to start paying for the service (NiemanLab)
- A Zimbabwean media startup has branched out from financial news in its coverage, which it pubblishes on WhatsApp (Poynter)
- GIJN published some tips on starting a fact-checking initiative (GIJN)
