Happy Sunday, hacks and hackers! Today concludes the enormous Media Indaba event in South Africa, which you may remember from last year, when it was called Media Party Africa.

  • Maite Fernandez, an organizer in D.C., wrote about their misinformation hackathon for IJnet - in English and Spanish (IJNet)
  • Facebook and Twitter reign supreme in the U.S., but in other countries, WhatsApp is quickly eclipsing them (NiemanLab)
  • In Brazil, though, Facebook is providing a better platform for some news coverage than traditional media outlets (Knight Center)
