Get Ready for Open Data Day
It's back, hacks and hackers! The Open Knowledge Foundation’s Open Data Day this year will be on March 7th, and if you’re interested in organizing an open data-related event in your area, you can apply for a mini-grant of up to $300 to help with funds. The deadline to apply is tonight.
Also, registration for MisinfoCon @ NASEM is full, but we will be live streaming it here. More details to come soon.
Worth a read:
- GIJN compiled some of their most popular How-Tos for investigative reporting, including guides on extracting data from PDFs, using Tweetdeck for investigations and building gifs from satellite imagery (GIJN)
- Thanks to the R Foundation’s task force for supporting underrepresented groups in the R community, there will be events across Southern Africa this spring to teach people how to use R for data analysis (R-Bloggers)
- Publications like Le Monde and The Guardian have grown their digital audiences by producing fewer, but more substantial, articles (Digiday)
