New tools and grants for DocumentCloud
Hello, hacks and hackers! If you're a fan of DocumentCloud, MuckRock recently released a slate of new tools that bolster the popular service.
The add-ons can be used immediately in the DocumentCloud site. You can also customize and create new ones in Github, and apply for Gateway Grants for new projects.
Worth a read:
- Adding qualitative context to describe data aids in reader comprehension, especially when reporting on topics like economics, health, science and politics, so the stories don’t become “number soup.”
- Odd Studio created an interactive visualization of heads that represent accounts mentioned most in the 2021 Dataviz Society State of the Industry Survey so people in the industry could better know who to follow, then wrote a behind-the-scenes explanation of how they executed the idea.
- Though Twitter is the most common social media platform used by US journalists, audiences are more likely to go to Facebook or YouTube for their news, according to a study by Pew Research Center.
