NICAR is back

Greetings, hacks and hackers! NICAR, the biggest data journalism conference in the US, met for the first time in person since early 2020.

Project Oasis is a collaborative project from UNC, the Google News Initiative and others that gathered data about local news organizations in the US and how they’re editorially and financially managed. The project will extend to covering European news organizations later this year.
Russia’s social media disinformation campaigns through the war have been less successful than previous campaigns, partly thanks to coordinated efforts to mitigate the spread from tech platforms themselves.
