SXSW, a new AI x Journalism Summit, more hackathons, and useful journalism links
A newsletter update featuring our plans for 2025, and links to journalism jobs and events.
In 2024, Hacks/Hackers events generated dozens of project ideas and engaged more than 1,000 journalists and technology professionals, while our in-person and online events over the past year sparked critical discussions about AI's role in newsroom innovation and audience engagement. We're planning to build on this momentum and do even more in 2025, writes Hacks/Hackers strategic advisor Paul Cheung.
Over the coming year, we're excited to launch the Hacks/Hackers AI x Journalism Summit in Baltimore in May 2025 (see directly below for more details). This year we'll also be paying particular attention to how we can help smaller, regional and BIPOC news outlets who risk falling behind in AI adoption, while continuing to support online information integrity.
Join us at the Hacks/Hackers AI x Journalism Summit 2025 (May 7–8, 2025)
